The Moon Shines Down

The Moon Shines Down by Margaret Wise Brown is a great children's book. It's rhyming rhythm and storyline are fun to read to your child and keeps them engaged. The illustrations are also FANTASTIC, I really can not say enough about them!! They are so colorful and kid friendly, you couldn't ask for any better. Not only is this book engaging for younger children, it also has a great storyline. The story takes you and your child around the world to see the different children of the world.
I enjoy reading this book much more than Brown's Goodnight Moon to my daughter, but she really prefers Goodnight Moon to this book.
Really the only complaint that I have regarding this book is the abrupt mention to Christmas Day. Christmas, while a great holiday, is never mentioned in this book until the very end. It seems quite akward how it is just thrown in, and does not flow with the story very well. The visit to the ocean is a little wierd too, since no children are living there, but the Christmas (and God Bless Christmas, how that is just thrown in) mention is really out of place.
Otherwise, this is really a great book, and engaging for little children, and a fun read as a parent.
